A Day to Remember

On Saturday, April 18th, 2026, I had the pleasure of attending VP RECORDS' annual Record Store Day Vinyl Showcase. This event was nothing short of amazing! The atmosphere was electric, filled with music lovers and vinyl enthusiasts. Two incredible sound systems, King Addie’s and Next Level Sounds, set the stage for an unforgettable experience.

Meet and Greet with Iwayne

One of the highlights of the day was the meet and greet with reggae entertainer Iwayne. Fans who purchased any of his albums on vinyl or CD had the chance to connect with him directly. I took a moment to chat with Iwayne, and he was just as down-to-earth as I imagined. His passion for music and his fans really shone through.

A Surprise Appearance by Buju Banton

But wait, it gets better! We were treated to a surprise appearance by the legendary reggae entertainer Buju Banton. 🔥🙌😁 Talk about a wonderful surprise! His presence lit up the venue, and everyone was buzzing with excitement. It was a moment I won’t forget anytime soon.

The Vibe of the Event

The vibe at the showcase was incredible. Everyone was there for the love of music. The energy was contagious, and it felt like one big family gathering. People were dancing, laughing, and sharing stories about their favorite vinyl records. It was a celebration of reggae culture and the community that surrounds it.

Why Vinyl?

Vinyl records have made a major comeback in recent years. They offer a unique listening experience that digital formats just can’t replicate. The warmth of the sound, the large album artwork, and the ritual of placing the needle on the record all contribute to a deeper connection with the music. For many, collecting vinyl is not just a hobby; it’s a lifestyle.

The Importance of Events Like This

Events like the VP RECORDS Vinyl Showcase are crucial for the music community. They bring people together and support local artists. It’s a chance for fans to connect with their favorite musicians and discover new talent. Plus, it helps keep the spirit of reggae alive and thriving.

Attending the VP RECORDS annual Record Store Day Vinyl Showcase was an experience I’ll always cherish. From the incredible performances to the surprise appearances, every moment was filled with joy and excitement. If you’re a fan of reggae or just love music, I highly recommend checking out similar events in your area. You never know what amazing experiences await you!
